Bard (Extra Job)

The Bard is an Extra Job, a job that must be quested for upon reaching level 30 before it becomes available to your character. As such, you will have a good working knowledge of the FF XI world by the time you are ready to attempt the Bard Quest (see below for information on the Bard Quest).

Switching to the Bard job for the first time (just like switching to any other job for the first time) means that you start at level 1 in the job.

The Bard

Bards are the magical vocalists and musicians of Vana`diel. One of the unique features of the Bard job is that their songs (spells) do not require Mana Points (MP) to use - they can be sung for indefinite periods of time.

Bards work very well in parties, as most of their songs affect everyone in the party. Bards have a wide array of songs, ranging from statistic boosts to status change resistances to the ever popular healing song. In addition to these party supporting melodies, Bards have an array of songs that can do unpleasant things to their enemies.

Bard Quest (Enable Bard Job)
Location: Lower Jeuno
Key NPC: Mertaire (INN, I8)
Procedure:

• Talk to Mertaire and all NPCs in the INN (Lower Jeuno, I8)
• Go to Mhaura and buy a paper (priced 500-600G) from Pikini-Mikini (G9).
• Get out of Mhaura and head to location G9 (to get there you have to go through a secret passage from the beach at the east) where you can find Song Runes.
• Click the Song Runes for a cut scene then trade the paper to the runes and give it to Mertaitre (Lower Jeuno, I8).
• Travel to the dunes where Selbina is, head for the most North West point and you can find a secret passage.
• Go through the secret passage and find another set of Song Rune's.
• Click on the runes to complete the Quest.
• Quest finished - you can now become a Bard at your Mog House!
